Postdoc Computational Scientist at the VIB Plant Systems Biology department in Ghent

We have a Postdoc position for a Computational Scientists at the VIB department of Plant Systems Biology in Ghent, Belgium. The project focuses on RNA-seq analysis of maize and integration of these data with multiple data sources (e.g. genomics, phenotyping, metabolomics, other transcriptomics). In this project we study the regulation of plant growth in relation to the environment, in particular drought. The majority of the data are produced in house by the group of Dirk Inzé and the selected candidate will work closely with the experimental team.

An integrated network of Arabidopsis growth regulators and its use for gene prioritization

Elucidating the molecular mechanisms that govern plant growth has been an important topic in plant research, and current advances in large-scale data generation call for computational tools that efficiently combine these different data sources to generate novel hypotheses. In this work, we present a novel, integrated network that combines multiple large-scale data sources to characterize growth regulatory genes in Arabidopsis, one of the main plant model organisms.

AIMS:

AlCoB aims at promoting and displaying excellent research using string and graph algorithms and combinatorial optimization to deal with problems in biological sequence analysis, genome rearrangement, evolutionary trees, and structure prediction.

Previous events were held in Tarragona (2014) and Mexico City (2015).
